VOLUNTEERING
Course Marshalls: We typically need 6-8 course marshals at home meets. These parents will be given maps to help direct athletes on the course, make sure athletes run the correct direction and cheer them on! This is a great, easy way to get involved with Redmond XC. There are usually two time slots available: 3:45-4:45pm and 4:45-5:45pm.
Pasta Feeds: This is an RHS Cross Country tradition where athletes gather to eat a pasta dinner the night before a meet. We typically need 10 parents to bring simple pasta dishes to feed 8-10 people and 3-4 parents to assist set up and clean up. Parents deliver to the RHS cafeteria at 4:45pm and athletes finish practice and arrive at 5:00pm.
Popsicles: Another RHS Cross country tradition is bringing popsicles to summer practices! Parents bring 30-40 popsicles at the end of summer practice.
REDMOND CROSS COUNTRY BOOSTER CLUB
The RHS XC Booster Club is a parent organization that works with the coaches to help support a healthy and fun XC experience for our kids. The Redmond High XC Boosters is a registered 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization. This means that donations made to the Boosters are considered tax deductible. (Disclaimer: On an individual level, you should always consult with your tax professional regarding your own unique circumstances.) Many employers offer matching funds for donations made to the Booster Club so be sure to check to see if your employer offers this benefit. For Microsoft employees, the Redmond High XC Boosters is now recognized by the Microsoft Employee Gifting Program. We show up as Redmond High CC Boosters. You can submit donations, requests for donation matching, and volunteer hours through the Microsoft site. The club supports the team and coaches through various activities, including but not limited to:
Coordinate all volunteer activities through SignUp Genius
Maintain the team website/blog
Provide popsicles at summer practices and snacks after races
Coordinate multiple pasta parties throughout the season
Coordinate the annual Coach Villeneuve Community 5k and Time Trial (fundraiser)
Coordinate race-day photographers
Plan the end-of-the-season awards banquet
Organize the annual senior recognition ceremony
FUNDRAISING
Unlike other High School organized sports / activities, Redmond XC does not ask their participants to sell candy or other items to raise money for the team. We raise funds for team activities through community events and the always popular Redmond XC car magnets. The Redmond XC Booster Club is the recipient of fundraising activities, which they use to pay for various team events throughout the season. Our primary fundraising event is the annual Coach Villeneuve Community 5k. This race serves as a dedication to Former Head Coach Denis Villeneuve (35 years) and as a fist 5k Time Trial of the season for student athletes. The event is free for team members but proceeds from other participants go directly to the team Booster Club. We also raise money through generous donations from parents and companies with matching funds.
