Year at a Glance
Summer Training (June - August)
When school completes in June, summer practices start the third or fourth week of June.
Our Summer Kick Off BBQ the first week of summer practices where all returners and newcomer families get together and get to know one another heading into the season.
Summer practices are 3-4 days per week. We meet in various locations to run and have two weight room sessions at RHS.
These practices are optional, whenever athletes are in town. Attendance isn't required, but there are lots of team bonding and getting to know you events for incoming freshmen - stayed tune via Coach Potter's emails each week!
You have to be signed up for Summer - XC Conditioning on Final Forms.
Starting in August, practices are captain-led.
Fall Season (August - November)
The first week of the season is a week before school starts. We do a lot of teaching and team bonding the first week. Don't miss out! You must be signed up on Final Forms to participate.
We have league meets on Wednesdays and Invitationals on Saturdays. Our Athletic.net page typically has our Fall schedule starting in the late spring/early summer, so check or email Coach Potter. Don't miss out on Saturday Invitationals, these are the most important!
Our post-season starts with the Kingco Championships in late October. The season is over for most of the team. Varsity continues on to run at Districts and State the first or second week of November.
Winter Training (December - February)
Almost all of our cross country athletes run various events in track. Winter training starts in December.
There are also lots of winter training bonding events like our annual Holiday Party! Athletes should check their team group chats.
Training is athlete-led and optional every day after school. There are two weight room days with coaches twice a week.
There are no meet-ups over winter break and we start up again in January until track season.
Track Season (March - May)
Track season starts the last week of February/first week of March. You must be signed up and cleared on Final Forms to participate.
The first week athletes have the opportunity to try different events.
There are league meets on Wednesdays and invitationals on Saturdays. Varsity athletes must meet qualifying marks to participate in most invitationals (at a minimum, the top 2 in each event per gender). These are your opportunities to hit qualifying marks for Kingco!
JV athletes season ends at the LWSD JV Kingco meet.
The top 20 athletes in the conference in each event qualify for the Kingco Championships. There are rounds to qualify for Districts and then State the last weekend in May.
We celebrate the season with a banquet the first week in June!
