Tips For Race Day
Stay moderately mobile but mostly off your feet, preserving energy until warm up.
If it's sunny and hot, stay cool in the shade.
If it's cold and/or rainy, stay warm with layers under shelter.
Nerves mean you care. This is a helpful thing to remind yourself of when you get nervous because caring is the best tool for getting through the painful part of the race.
Be curious about your teammates' goals and encourage them/cheer them on. When you calm their nerves and build their confidence, you calm your own nerves and build your own confidence too!
Approach the race as a challenge, not a threat.
Challenge Mindset Examples
"This is going to be hard, but I've done the training so I'm up for it"
"Hey! How fast do you think I can run around this track 4 times?"
Threat Mindset Examples
"Racing hurts, why am I doing this?"
"I hope I don't go out too hard and die."
